There are usually two venues in San Francisco, and the one that was easiest to get to got cut this year, which angers me, but (no matter what people say) I am pleased with the band list so far this year.

The two people mentioned are Andy Soukal (@ndysoukal) and Nick Murray (@nickmurray25). After some research I couldn't find any information on past musical endeavors of Nick or Andy.

The Young Veins highly anticipated album Take a Vacation is set to release next year and although highly unlikely, according to this tweet, there is a possibility they will be on Warped Tour next year.

You could kind of get a idea of where they were going with it from what you saw... except then the video came out, and it's nothing I expected.

The video (which can be seen at paramore.net or Fueled By Ramen's youtube) starts off with Hayley swinging, a little girl with wings running, and Josh digging. The sky looks like a permanent sunset, matching Hayley's hair perfectly, and has leaves raining down like cats and dogs. Soon the little girl finds a tunnel, and within the tunnel a whole other world.

The tunnel is nice at first—butterflies and flowers all around. She soon finds a castle and walks right in, finding a room full of mirrors. The mood turns dark and the mirrors show the facade of the pleasant place cracking and falling apart.

Scared, the girl throws her wings off and runs back to what she thinks is safety, but really runs in to the hole ('grave') that Josh has been digging. Hayley throws the doll in while Josh starts filling the hole.

Through out the video Hayley is singing her heart out into the grass while Josh digs, and if you look closely you can see Jeremy, Josh, and Taylor dressed up and hiding in the video. Since the video was shot Hayley has been talking about how it shows a darker side of the band and how they love intricate videos but haven't had a chance to make one until now.

I. Love. It.

Even though performances are where Paramore shines, not every video needs to be one. The colors are brilliant, and the special effects are amazing. I'm not too big on the mirror scene, and think it could use some more Zac and Taylor, but overall I feel like the video gives them a little more depth. I'm in no way encourage burying little girls, but I hope they have more videos that involve more then a stage and a mic.

At the beginning of the year VersaEmerge had five band members, but sometime after Warped Tour their old drummer, Anthony Martone, was 'kicked out' (and is now in the band Initials). His leaving didn't cause much of an outrage, and the band carried on with a stand in drummer from Hidden In Plain View. Yesterday (the 21st) a promo shot for Versa was posted on Brian Folchetti Flikr minus rhythm guitarist Jerry Pierce. Before this little had been said about Pierce leaving, so when people started talking about their only being three of them in the comments, Brian said:

"Their other guitarist, Jerry, is on his last tour and refused to be a part of the promos. They're getting a new drummer and staying a four-piece, from what they told me anyway"

Once news broke the tumblr and twitter community went nuts. News got back to Pierce, he tweeted this.

During warped tour and VersaEmerge's recent tour he has been selling his solo EPs and (I'm guessing) he will continue with that.

Later in the day VersaEmerge released a blog addressing the issue:

Everyone, we understand that the word is out about Jerry and you all would like to know what’s going on. We are just kids who play music for you, This is not a soap opera filled with drama. We would never try to disrespect anyone purposely and we ask the same from all of you.

Jerry is choosing to leave the band. There are some family things going on and he’s decided it’s best to address them from home. Touring is a hard way to live and in order to decide if you want to live that way you need to experience it. There are absolutely no hard feelings and we will remain best friends forever and always. And for those of you that know him and watch our videos, youve seen how damn clever and hilarious he is. And yes it’s sad to see him go but we support his plans and know that he will make a kick ass lawyer, scientist, stripper or whatever he chooses to do.

Also I’m sure you guys think the band is in a weird place right now after we’ve kicked out Anthony and now Jerry is leaving, but this is a great learning proccess for us. We don’t even have a full length record out yet, our career as a band hasn’t even begun! We are just getting started and have a long way to go. Our music will still be Versaemerge and that’s what matters in the long run. We are just asking you guys to support us the way you have been since the beginning. It’s such a good feeling to know that there are people who love us and our music. Thank you all so much for being cool.

I can't wait to see and hear how things go for VersaEmerge and Pierce.

Apprently John didn't hear that. One eye witness story told by a fan recalled this:

"I was standing right next to him. There was a ridiculous amount of girls everywhere.They were going insane, John was trying to organize everyone into place so they could all get there pictures, or stuff signed. He took a bunch of peoples cameras so he could take the pictures,and a cop came over and started yelling at him to leave because they were blocking the stupid sidewalk and street,or whatever. John asked the cop to hold on so he could give all the cameras back. The cop got pissed,and started yelling at him,and he was respectfully saying to him just to wait a couple minutes to give shit back,and he pushed John onto me. I caught him in my own fucking arms after a cop SHOVED him. Then,I helped him up and the cop grabbed him (Meanwhile,with all of these girls cameras in his hands) and threw him across the street and onto a tree face first in front of Pat pulling his arms behind his back while every camera flew. I was screaming at the cop,while others were as well. After I saw the cop pulling him away,i couldnt even look and i walked away. We started walking around,and my friends mom was there. So, i cursed out the cops. Not such a great idea,but i dont fucking care. No one is going to fuck with John when he did absolutely nothing.I got in the car,and the cop came and told me to get out.He lectured me about me “being young & not knowing right from wrong” and then I had an attitude and thought i was so “all that” FUCK THAT. I was defending one of the most important people in my life. Then,he said “I could arrest you right here and you can spend a happy jail cell with your band boyfriend that you want so bad”. WHAT THE HELL. Who gives him the fucking right to say that? NO ONE. Just because you have a badge on your chest doesnt make you better then anyone else."

There has been no word yet to if he has been release or not, but he will be happy to know he has friends on the outside.

I learned I got tickets to the show that night at 10am that morning. After some frantic texts and suprisingly no begging I was allowed to go, and soon me and Katie were on our way. We got to the venue about an hour before the show with only a little problem with the tickets that was solved with in minutes. When me and Katie got in the venue we immediately got to the barricade.

First up was Brooke Waggoner. I had never heard of her before, but when the screen lifted and there was only two pianos uncovered, I quickly connected that to the other bands that were playing to get an idea of her sound. A small red-haired woman came out, said a quick hello to the crowd and started playing. I was quite impressed. It was a little hard hearing her sing over the piano but everything she played was beautiful. After the dull lull of the crowd kicked in I felt like I should be watching her perform in a little coffe shop a the end of the block. The only think that irked me was when she dedicated a song to the "boyfriends and girlfriends", but that is just because I'm bitter little girl.

Next was The Scene Aesthetic

With an extra hand on stage to help with piano and guitar (named Spencer, who we all said hello to) they played beautifully. Andrew's voice is always unique and Erick reminded me of Sean Van Vleet sans tambourine. There was only a few people singing along, which suprised me. Everything they played was perfect and even if the crowd didn't know who they were they, Andrew and Erick tried to connect with them, singing to them and making contact with possible. Also, I love when people in the band who aren't singing mouth the words, which is what Erick did almost every time. After the show a roadie handed us one of the two set lists. In between The Scene Aesthetic and Owl City me and Katie talked to Andrew a little while he cleaned up. He told me he is not addicted to The Brobecks (which is the song I used for the video) and then gave us the second set list.

Then it was Owl City.

I was expecting a lot of lights. There weren't. I wasn't expecting five people on stage. There were. None the less, they played with energy, Adam sweating crazily just two songs in. Everyone was singing along, the band feeding off the crowd and vice-versa. Adam had said he'd thrown up all day but you could honestly not tell. I didn't stay for a whole set ecause, even though I like Owl City, i think if you've heard one song, you've heard them all.

The whole night was great and I loved every second.

A lot of people have complained that Fall Out Boy's more recent albums aren't as good as Take this To Your Grave. Well, angry fans, this could satisfy your craving for some pop-punk that rocks a little harder. The Swellers, who were recently signed to Fueled By Ramen, are bringing it for an album that will probably be people's first impression of them.

My first impression of them I was... well, impressed. I was expecting something to the extent of a well produced garage band but was pleasantly proved wrong. Sounding like a young Fall Out Boy or a softer Set Your Goals, their catchy pop-punk sounds and some group vocals although not original are still fun to listen to. This albums also shows a nice contrast, with their more upbeat songs like 2009 and Do You Feel Better Yet?, to slower songs like Stars. Maybe not an album I would so to go out and buy right away, but you should give it a listen on their myspace and if you like it why not buy it and support a smaller band?

The band is currently on tour with Paramore, a show worth checking out if you get a chance.
